We need masking. This has lead to creating workflows that exist outside of Pixelmator. Please also consider adding some basic brushes in future updates. Finally where is the noise reduction?
That is a shame. These are my initial impressions after using the app for the first time. It would need selective edits, brushes, noise reduction, and masking on the sharpening tool. I can still use it in my workflow as a last stop to apply a filter. It would great for that because it has enough adjustment tools to fine tune the filter.
I also like the idea of machine learning to supplement my creative process. It suggested a nice crop which made my model seem taller in the frame. I will be using that idea in the future! Currently collapsing an individual tool removes the adjustment. I would love for Pixelmator to replace Lightroom for me. I could be free of my Adobe subscription plan forever! Edit: Love to see that batch editing has been added.

I started with Pixelmator Classic, mainly because it provided a great alternative to Photoshop. In practice, I found it daunting to use. I then went over to Affinity apps, which are incredibly powerful tools, and you only pay their price once.
Although Affinity is absolutely fantastic and completely maximized for Apple Silicon, it sometimes can hold you back speed wise, because it has so many features available to you at once. I don't know what made me revisit Pixelmator Pro, but I'm glad I did.
I can't believe how easy it is to use I feel like the workflow is so much more fluid. And not only that, it has vector graphics capability as well. It's so easy to switch back and forth between work environments. Also, the machine learning in the app is absolutely insane and surprisingly accurate.
I can't believe I ignored this app for so many years. It is an absolute pleasure to use The Pixelmator team has the magic sauce and it can only get better from here. This is my testimony. I remember when Pixelmator Pro came out and dazzled everyone with it's instantaneous filter affects utilizing the GPU putting shame on "the" primary image editor at the time , and then a bit later they had a few GUI improvements here and there. However, in the last year or two something amazing has happened -- they seem to have crossed some knee-of-the-curve for innovation and new features.
Every time I turn around, Pixelmator Pro is doing something new, something cool, something better and it's just fantastic.
